Research Start
Starting point for identifying Henry Jones and Mary Smith is:
Immigration om the Black Eagle 1857 Both from Staffordshire both CofE
Death Certificate Mary Smith 1891, married age 19 years Staffordshire
Parents Bernard and Mary Smith RC
Death Certificate Henry Smith 1910, 1st married age 20 in
England
Also
Henry Jones 2nd marriage Wesleyan Methodist
Children of Henry Jones didn’t (didn’t know?) Henry’s parents’ names to
complete his death certificate
Henry Jones completed the death certificate with detail of Mary Jones
parents and noted religion as RC
Immigration record has religion as CoE
From this:
Henry Jones born 1833 (immigration record), born 1831 (2nd
marriage record) 1834 (death certificate)
Married at age 20 on death certificate gives a marriage year of 1851 or 1853/1854
Mary Jones nee Smith born 1834 (immigration record)
Married at age 19 on death certificate gives a marriage year of 1853.
Much of what come next is based on aligning this 1841 Census record with
Mary Jones nee Smith migrant in 1857.
There are some problems:
Name is Maryann not Mary
Mothers name might be May not Mary
Location is Liverpool not Leek.
But there are many points of information that align.
